When my now 3 1/2month old was born, he had a tongue tie and couldn't attach well. I also have inverted nipples which didn't help. He was also in Intensive Care for 4 days, and was being feed through a tube in his nose, so didn't learn the suck thing straight up. Anyway, the lactation nurse was ****, to say the least, too busy to spend time with me, and didnt really listen to my problems. Then we went home and had a FABULOUS midwife come to the house, tried new things, and breastfeeding was becoming easier! Then.... MASTITIS in 1 breast in within 48hrs the other breast. So supply went right down, kept expressing and trying to feed, but had to supplement with formula. My baby just didn't want to go back on the breast, I was DEVESTATED, my poor husband tried to cheer me up by taking me and bub to lunch, and there was a table of 6 women their having lunch, and all started breastfeeding at once, I burst into tears. NOW my baby is growing soooooo well, and we are formula feeding. My husband asked if I'll breastfeed again? He loves being able to help with the feeds now. I thought I would, but now I'm not so sure. But the negative comments when you bottle feed, I constantly feel I have to explain the WHOLE story.
